From a left wing conspiracy theorist blog? No, from Newsweek.
I don't even like the thought of this possibility. We went to the polls in 1944 during the second World War. We went in 1864 in the midst of our own Civil War. No matter what party is in charge of the executive branch, there is no plausible case in my mind for postponing an election.
Now, that being said, I don't buy into the speculation that this is some ploy on the part of President Bush to hold onto the presidency at all costs. Any suggestion of that is unsubstantiated and quite ridiculous.
In fact, I would suggest that a real conspiracy would involve suppressing any information about possible terrorist disruptions of the November elections, and allowing something to happen in a place such as New York or California, which would be heavily liberal, anti-Bush enclaves, resulting in less votes for the left, and assuring a landslide for Bush. Now THAT would be a conspiracy.
