31 dead at Virginia Tech. More will probably die too. My kids are so young, yet someday they could be at an institution of higher learning, facing a menace like this shooter.
Today I hear lots of calls for "gun control". It appears that only the shooter at VT was armed. If others had also been, he could have been stopped. If others had been, the chances of anyone coming onto campus armed with the intent to mass-murder dozens of people would have been greatly diminished. Gun control is not the answer. Deterrence is. And an armed populace is a deterrence.
God help the families of those dead kids. And God help this country to realize that eliminating access to weapons for law-abiding people is no solution for on-campus gun violence.Labels: Virginia Tech Shootings
